The Vedas (Sanskrit, Veda वेद
means "knowledge") are a
large collection of texts originating in
Ancient India. According to Hindu belief, the
Vedas are apauruseya "not human compositions",
and have been directly revealed to yogis in the
deep state of meditative consciousness and thus
are called śruti ("what is heard").
Vedik yogis discovered that the secret of cosmic
consciousness is intimately linked with breath
mastery and cultivation of Stillness in
body-mind. The life force (Prana), which is
ordinarily used for bodily functions, can be
channeled for higher activities by a method of
calming and stilling the ceaseless demands of
the breath.
Prana is a Sanskrit word that roughly translates
to 'life-force' or 'breath of life'. Prana is
both the physical breath and the subtle life
energy of the body. In different cultures this
is referred by different names: Chi(Qi), Barak,
Mana, Logos, Energy, etc.
The dis-ease, in Vedik healing systems, is
caused by the blockages or imbalances in the
flow of pranas within the individual or between
the individual and the cosmos.
Wellness can be restored by enhancing the
self-awareness and balancing the free flow of
prana through the chakras and the whole body
that improves the coordination, rhythm and
healing in the living body.
